<--- The International Date Line
Today we crossed the international date line. No, this is not the place where singles from all over the world come to "hook up". It is the longitude that is exactly half way around the world from Greenwich, England. By crossing the date line we actually lost a day. The date line does not exactly follow the 180th meridian of longitude because it bends both eastward and west ward in certain spots in order to avoid a time change in some populated areas, like Siberia, the Aleutian Islands and some island groups in the South Pacific. Who ever considered these populated areas is probably also responsible for drawing the congressional districts. As you would deduce Greenwich, England sits on the 0 degree meridian of longitude.
Nevertheless, we went from the 11th of February to the 13th and skipped the 12th. As you might imagine that makes for a pretty stressful day, although if I was thinking ahead I could have started a "fast" on the 11th and ended it on the 13th without leaving the buffet line. Maybe next time.
Tomorrow Russel, New Zealand
Chris - Speaking of Buffet Line - I thought I'd give you a weight update. Yep, I still have weight!
The Good News is that my pants all fit the same and by skipping the 12th I missed 3 meals worth of calories :) The Bad News is it's early yet and I'm working hard to keep it off.
