Day 79 Christchurch, New Zealand

This morning we caught our flight out of Sydney and landed in Christchurch. Our kids had arrived earlier this morning and we sent them off on a Jet Boat ride which they enjoyed alot. We walked a little and saw the memorial the Kiwis have constructed to the World Trade Center bombing. This is the only other memorial to that tragedy in the world except for the one in New York.
After that we went punting on the Avon River which is a lovely little river that runs thru the heart of this lovely city. That was quite relaxing and a nice slow time in our hurried schedule.
After the punting we returned to our hotel where we got ready for dinner. We walked from our hotel to dinner in one of the local eateries.
It was great to see the kids and catch up on the news from home. They all seemed to be doing well and are excited about our excursion thru New Zealand.
Tomorrow Queenstown, New Zealand.

Chris - How GREAT it is to see the kids!!! That was obviously the highlight of the day for me. The kids loved their jet boat ride which went through a canyon. The ride was hair raising as it would drive very close to the canyon walls, went extremely fast and executed a 360 turn. It worked just as I planned as it certainly awakened them after a very long flight. They were settled in the George Hotel by the time we got there, they were so settled they even had eaten and charged breakfast to us before we even got there. Ahhhh nothing has changed...and I love it!!

Sounds familiar-when we were in NYC last weekend we found out that somehow the 10 K that Kath and Rob ran had been charged to our credit card....you're right...some things never change but that's okay occasionally!
