Day 74 Sydney, Australia

Well we are in Sydney. We arrived early this morning after our overnight flight from Shanghai. By flying overnight we didn't have to get a hotel room and it made the most of the daylight hours. Sounds good but sleep on a plane is not like sleep in a bed.
We checked into our hotel which gives us a great view of the Sydney harbor. We can see the iconic Opera House the ferries going across the water and the famous Sydney bridge from our hotel room. We walked the quay area called "The Rocks" and lunched at one of the pubs. We climbed aboard a hop on hop off bus which took us on a tour of the city. This was helpful in helping us get our bearings and locate areas of interest. We took a cab to another area called Harborside. If anybody wants an excellent example of how to develop a waterfront area these folks from Sydney are the best! After a quick dinner we stopped in at the Star City casino where Chris took them for about $90 before we left a half hour later and came back to our hotel for the evening.
Tomorrow more Sydney.

Chris - How does anyone ever get any sleep flying in coach in those chairs? Anyway, we did have our own tv and our flight to Sydney actually went pretty fast. Sydney is a beautiful city with numerous harbors and bays. It's main attraction to me is all the water and obviously, the Opera House and Harbour Bridge. Restaurants dot the many harbors, which present a beautiful picture with all the ferries quietly moving along the calm waters in the bay. There also is a nice mix of more modern buildings with quaint alleyways that have maintained the feel of yesteryear. Graced with a historical richness, and blessed with architectural marvels, Sidney is stunning. Our hotel room is on the 32nd floor overlooking the harbor where we can see the Harbour Bridge, the bay and its ferry traffic and the breathtaking Opera House. An AMAZING View!!! With binoculars we can even see the people climbing the Bridge. We have 5 days here and I have about 7 days worth of things to do so we have some choices to make tonight. The other good news is we're back to warmer weather...good thing since I sent so many of my clothes home!
